History & Philosophy (Anaheim Lady Ducks)

PrintHistory & Philosophy

Our History

The Lady Ducks Began in 1999 to fill the need for some 20 young females playing hockey in Southern California. From there it has grown to represent the West as the powerhouse program left of the Mississippi! From its humble beginnings with 2 teams in 1999 to 15 teams today, the Lady Ducks have developed female hockey players from age 4 to the NCAA. Lady Duck AAA players are 3 times more likely to attend a 4-year university as student-athlete than other programs in USA Hockey. Collegebound AA players too have the support through our college prep staff to get our hard-working, strong students into college programs that fit both their academic goals and athletic compete level.

The Lady Ducks are affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks Youth Hockey Program and were recognized as a USA Hockey Model Program in 2016. The Lady Ducks offer opportunities from learn-to-skate and in-house to Tier I and Tier II teams for girls in Southern California.

Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the Lady Ducks Ice Hockey program is twofold. First, as a program committed to fundamentals and skill development, all LD coaches work to provide a positive but thorough learning environment for girls to acquire individual and team skills. This includes a commitment to intense skating skills (edges, transition skating, etc), puck control techniques and shooting skills. By combining a confident and skilled player with a team of her peers, she will excel to her potential.
